Rockdale City Suns Football Club - Ilinden

ROUND 3 - UNDER 20'S

Rockdale City Suns 3
(J. Figon, B. Currey & L. Egger)
Defeated
Hakoah Sydney City East 0

Rockdale City Suns have maintained their unbeaten start to season 2019 with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Hakoah Sydney City East.
There were a number of first grade players who dropped down for this match. A lovely pass down the right in the opening five minutes from Alex Malfarra sent Jordan Figon on his way who put in a sublime chip into the left corner of the net to open the scoring, 1-0 to Rockdale. The Suns certainly created many opportunities from that point on but were unable to capitalize on the scoreboard....1-0 at the break. Midway into the second half a free kick to Rockdale outside the box went square to Jake Trajkovski who blasted an effort on goal...the Hakoah keeper was unable to handle it and Blake Currey was "Johnny on the spot" to score and double the Suns lead to 2-0. You would forgive if you think you were watching Barcelona at Ilinden when new recruit Leigh Egger got on the end of at least a fifteen pass move to bury the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-0 that sent the crowd into raptures. With further chances not taken the final score was 3-0. The combination of Brayden Sorge and Figon certainly gave Hakoah plenty of headaches down their right. Mohammed Ahmed was a shining light in the middle along with Alex Fadel, attacker James Cakovski and defender George Medakovic put in terrific shifts as well. The back four did their job giving captain Jacob Botic a quiet afternoon in goals. A special mention to the four players who had to miss out in today's game...thanks for your understanding.
After another searching pre season with head coach Steve Zoric, the squad is in tip top shape and will be going into next week with plenty of confidence.
