2019 MASO CUP DEBRIEF: ROCKDALE CROWNED CHAMPIONS

It was a fantastic weekend of football down in the nation’s capital for the 2019 edition of the Maso Cup.

Host Club Queanbeyan FC put on a fantastic show and we congratulate them on their efforts.

At the end of the weekend’s action, it was pleasing that both our First Grade and Under 20’s won their respective competitions.

Both finals were played against Victorian NPL 1 outfit, Altona Magic. They were competitive games. Plenty of passion on show.

In first grade, we defeated Altona Magic in the final 2-1 with goals from Josh Da Silva and Pani Nikas. We were made to sweat it out with 10 men towards the back end of the game but held on.

In the under 20’s, we won the grand final 1-0.

Unfortunately our over 35’s missed out on progressing to the knockout stages.

During the tournament, we played 7 games in first grade, winning 6, and drawing the other, and along the way only conceded one goal (in the final and from the penalty spot).
