The 2017 season is fast approaching and registrations are now open to play, referee and coach football this season.
After a massive 2016 that had more than 660,000 registered participants across Australia, Football Federation Australia was expecting an even bigger boost this season.
Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop said football was a game for everyone.
“Our game is safe, simple and skilful for boys and girls,” Gallop said.
“It’s also inclusive, accessible and multicultural – that’s why you’ll find football is a part of the daily life of more Australian households than any other mass participation sport.
The 2017 Play Football campaign will once again include a recruitment drive for grassroots Coaches and Referees, who along with players are the game’s greatest advocates and are two key roles that have a great influence on a player’s experience.
This year’s campaign will also build on our MiniRoos program – a smaller version of football that provides boys and girls aged 4 – 11 with a fun introduction to the world game.
MiniRoos it is all about having fun, learning new skills and making life-long friends and will be delivered by grassroots clubs across Australia.
The inaugural program was a major success with more than 215,000 players registered in the MiniRoos program, and that number is once again expected to grow.
Players, coaches and referees can register to “Play Football” by logging onto Australia’s biggest online sports registration portal, which can be found at MyFootballClub.com.au.
